In a week full of snow flurries and sunshine, Stanfords Travel Writers Festival returns to London for its fifth edition.
Hosted by the 160+ year old travel bookshop and map-makers, the Stanford’s stage sees travel writers talking about their adventures and latest books. These include Lizzie Carr speaking to Wanderlust magazine’s Phoebe Smith about stand-up paddle boarding along the UK’s canals and setting up Plastic Patrol to help raise awareness and reduce litter levels in the water. As well as anthropologist and archaeologist Mary-Ann Ochoa and nature navigation expert Tristan Gooley discussing how to read the natural world.
Today is the final day of the festival with more speakers and new travel books to discover. As well as some interesting talks there are book signings, plus a Stanfords stand packed with destination guides, adventure novels and travel gifts.
The festival is part of the Destinations: The Holiday &Travel Show at Olympia London, where you’ll also find lots of travel inspiration from stands offering adventure tours, travel equipment such as Water-to-Go reusable filtered water bottles, global dance performances and, of course, lots of free tote bags!
