Tropical vibes come to London this weekend, in the form of the Spirit of Tiki cocktail festival. Celebrating all things under the South Pacific sunshine, in particular the rum, the festival falls upon a leafy corner of Regent’s Park for two days.
Organised by rum industry experts, Georgi Radev and Roger Barnes, the festival returns for its second stint as premium rum brands and London’s cocktail bars club together to bring a taste of summer to the capital. Cocktails include Watermelon Mojitos, Piña Colada granitas and DLV Batidas (a freshly squeezed sugar cane and absinth concoction), all created by expert mixologists from bars including Mahiki.
Radev explains how he wanted to bring Polynesian culture to new audiences and introduce them to the fun nature of Tiki.
Entertainment comes in the form of live music, dancing and mixology contests. London Hula takes to the stage in colourful costumes with performances showcasing different dance styles from a variety of Polynesian islands, including slow and graceful Hawaiian hulas and high-speed hip-shaking Tahitian numbers.
With one more day of activities ahead, there’s still time to get your best aloha shirt on and join the party!
